About The Chief

Keith was such a wonderful man. Throughout his life he worked hard at everything he did. He had passion, pride, motivation and drive. If he thought there was a solution to a problem, determination would drive him on until he found it. He adopted this attitude whether he was helping someone out or had a really mentally challenging project on the go. It's what made Keith who he was, a strong, warm, passionately determined, caring, loving person with an enormous heart. Keith had a happy childhood growing up with his brothers and sisters and doing all the things kids do. The exception to this was that they discovered their mum had MS. Obviously this was devastating to them but they learned at an early age to care for one another and to pull together. This has made them all very caring people. Regretably the illness took its toll and Keith's father moved on but, at only 15, Carol took on the responsibility of looking after both mum and her brothers and sisters. Unfortunately the "system" won and mum was taken to a home in Leamington Spa. Determined not to lose any more of her family Carol threw herself into the task, looking after everyone else without a thought for herself. As the boys left home her priorities changed to her sisters with emphasis on Sheila who was the youngest. Keith's love and admiration for Carol cannot easily be put into words. He called her his saint and hero all wrapped up in one. As they all grew and went their separate ways the closeness of early life never left them. It could be years between meetings but to the casual onlooker it would seem that no time had passed at all. Keith opted to live with his dad when he realised his life was going in the wrong direction and he needed a stronger hand to bring him into line. This decision was not easy but he felt it was the right one. Eventually mum passed away and everybody was devastated. Keith never grieved for his mum, the trauma being too great, so he threw himself into his work. He started by joining the GEC in Rugby as an apprentice and also joined the TA. One of Keith's proudest moments was when, on reaching 21, he joined the Royal Navy. Throughout his career he reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer and acquired many skills. After 22 years Keith had served his time in the RN and they put him through a series of courses and exams to make it easier for him to be accepted in civvy street. On leaving, Keith joined a company called Nedalo (later to be named Cogenco) and made lots of friends while "working" (that's Keith speak for "socialising").
